Same old stuff, but a new address. More later on the state of the world, the state of my world, and random musings about the professoriate. I notice there are quite a few like me around here.

Right now, I'm most upset about high school students who Hate Freedom—or, at least, think it's highly overrated in the case of the press. What I can't seem to do is get my own students to fear corporate conglomeration and media aggregation, or to recognize that a proliferation of channels does not equal an abundance of genuine points of view. They're big believers in the freedom of the market, infinitely less concerned with any more public freedoms.
