Damn, it feels good to blog

The family's napping, so I'm going to steal a meme:

2. Were you named after anyone? My mother's upwardly mobile aspirations...

3. Do you wish on stars? Sure.

4. When did you last cry? One week ago; briefly yesterday.

5. Do you like your handwriting? No--it looks like it did in jr. high, when I was always changing it to look like some cool girl's.

6. What is your favorite lunch meat? Turkey. Smoked. Or Tuna.

7. What is your most embarrassing CD? Selena. Not even a Tejana album; pure American pop crap.

8. If you were another person, would YOU be friends with you? God I hope so. Then I would have two friends, right?

9. Do you have a journal? No.

10. Do you use sarcasm a lot? Only when I breathe.

11. What are your nicknames? Mama.

12. Would you bungee jump? Yes

13. Do you untie your shoes when you take them off? No.

14. Do you think that you are strong? Emotionally, yes. Physically, nope.

15. What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Coffee. Or peanut butter.

16. Shoe Size? Never tell.

17. Red or pink? Yes.

18. What is your least favorite thing about yourself? Insecurity.

19. Who do you miss most? When? It's different at different times of day.

20. Do you want everyone you send this to, to send it back? No.

21. What color pants and shoes are you wearing? Jeans and dorky white ped socks.

22. What are you listening to right now? The traffic going by outside.

23. Last thing you ate? Cookie dough.

24. If you were a crayon, what color would you be? Burnt sienna.

25. What is the weather like right now? Gorgeous.

26. Last person you talked to on the phone? Friend from grad school

27. The first thing you notice about the opposite sex? Sense of humor.

28. Do you like the person who sent this to you? Well, since I picked it out myself...

29. Favorite Drink? Bourbon or champagne. Not together.

30. Favorite Sport? No.

31. Hair Color? Fading to natural

32. Eye Color? Both are the same color.

33. Do you wear contacts? Not always, but yes.

[. . . .]

43. What Books Are You Reading? Biographies, mostly.

44. What's On Your Mouse Pad? "Rumba"!

45. What Did You Watch Last night on TV? The Daily Show

[. . . .]

51. What is your ring tone? There's a recording of an actual tasmanian devil that my husband and I want to install, if we can figure out how--and buy a phone to accommodate it. Right now, I think it's Korean folk music. I don't know why.

1. Name: Diana Christine

2. Do you follow any blogs or sites?: Yes, I read Dorcasina at Et al. and two or three others.

3. How does a secretary-turned-speaker/writer in Washington, D.C. find the blog of a newly minted Ph.D. in Urbatopia?: Recommendation of my friend ehj2.

4. Do you share?: I tell others about Dorcasina (my academic friends call her voice “lovely,” which I agree), but I haven’t contributed a comment (maybe one day I will participate in the intriguing and insightful colloquies.

5. Favorite post: "What you ask" on August 1 along with its accompanying discourse. I grew up the daughter of a fundamentalist minister but now practice mindfulness with Buddhists and meditate with Hindus. Dorcasina’s discussion of Bill McKibben’s article was rich and relevant but the topic too personal and deep for me to respond to in too little available time. My view of the Christian right is probably far more understanding than most (having experienced it from the inside) and perhaps my different perspective is valid and needed. I do not yet have sufficient language to express my deep feelings on the subject (and am not accustomed to voicing them).

The "Don’t thank me really" post brought back fond memories. I earned spending money in high school by grading papers for various overworked teachers. Younger students never knew it was I who graded their essays. And I adored the sarcasm in the piece (sarcasm requiring a special skill and the knowledge of one’s audience—no comments from me whether ehj2 is adept at this or not).

6. What would you most like Dr. D to know?: Having taught, coached, and edited writers, I would like her to know she is one of the most intelligent and most skilled people who ever touched a keyboard, a lovely voice indeed. And deserving of my highest regard for recent accomplishments. I offer my most heart-felt congratulations and best wishes. God bless.

Diana Christine,
Thank you! I've had a wretched day today, and your very kind words have made all the difference. I can go to bed with a smaller lump in my stomach, and a bit more encouraged to keep writing and blogging on the morrow.
best to you and yours--
d.

It is clear that ringtones and other mobile content like Java games, screensavers and animations etc. are becoming more popular everyday as more people all over the world get connected with a mobile phone.

Huge Selection of High Quality, Low Priced Ebooks

Have you bought any of those $97 ebooks lately? A great many people are writing fluffed up ebooks that have little valuable information, but they sell for $47 or more.

Many of them could be reduced to just a few pages if the authors didn't 'pump them up' with unnecessary filler.

Not too long ago, I purchased a high priced ebook from a well-known AdSense expert who claims to make thirty thousand dollars a month from AdSense. I sorted thru all the filler junk to find that the whole idea is to make the ads not look like ads!

This was a case of taking ten pages worth of info and blowing it up to nearly 200 pages just to give the illusion of value! Nobody would be happy paying his price to get a 5 or 10 page ebook.

Fortunately, a new idea in ebooks is becoming quite popular - ebooks that don't have to be pumped up with filler to make them appear worth the money. No garbage pages just to increase bulk. Only the real, no BS information you really need. Prices so low that it's probably pocket change for you.

How cheap is cheap? How about 7 bucks?

Take a look at this Huge Selection of $7 Ebooks
