I want to be able to visit again, and write, "I love what you write."

I don't want to be mistaken for a man who is simply flimflaming a woman who is deeply missing a particular man, and in abuse of that lonely space.

I want a world where I can be supportive without my motives, even in appearance, being suspect. But I'm a feminist, and I know how hurtful men are and can be. These days, masculine motive should always be suspect and made to prove its bona fides.

So I will pretend I have simply had a few of those sloshing gin and tonics that I understand to be the beverage of choice here, and that my better nature seized me, and pressed me to overcome my reluctance in this milieu of unconscious patriarchy, and made me write.

"I love what you write. What you write makes my world larger. Thank you."

It's Christmas Eve. I'm just dropping by to let you and your daughter know that I'm thinking about you.
