What not to watch

At least, not when you've been ill with fever, chills, sore throat, hacking cough, and intermittent waves of nausea and dizziness for four days; nor when you've been despondent over your untimely widowhood and the great injustice of your spouse's demise; nor when you are spiking female hormones enough for an entire agrarian village; nor when you are in one of your inevitable "the world is sad" fits of existential despair over the extinction of species, the impending disaster of climate change, the rampant cruelty our own species inflicts on itself, the criminal idiocy of our current foreign policy, and your inability to afford a car with a smaller carbon imprint: Paradise Lost; a documentary on the horrific events under Jim Jones and the People's Temple, in Guyana.

Don't say I didn't warn you.

Are you *insane*, my beloved Dorcasina? Watching that? Voluntarily? Willingly choosing this moment-- or this decade-- to watch this? Are you also sharpening up sticks with which to poke yourself in the eye? Purchasing bowling balls for the express purpose of dropping them on your feet? Stop It, darling. Stop. Just don't do that anymore. With love, Mme X.

Oh, so sorry that you are sick. Sounds like you have what I had in early January. When life is already so hard, being sick is just the last straw.

I wish I could come over and help you and the little one, bring some food and some mindless TV. I highly recommend that you watch American Idol tonight--pure mind candy.

Rest up, if you can.

Note to self: Remember this post.

So sorry you've got the crud, D. Sending some virtual chicken soup for the young mother's throat.

Hope you're on the physical mend soon. The rest takes longer.

Hope you're feeling better soon, that's some tough viewing sister, I haven't seen it yet. I did just watch one about the Beslan school tragedy in Russia, they looked at it mostly from the surviving children's perspectives, a rough one to take as well, but I'm not sure as horrible as Paradise Lost.

Get rest and get well:)
